BGA 1744 socket: CPUs, chipsets and cooler fit
BGA 1744 is Intel's soldered ball grid array package for the Raptor Lake-H mobile processors sold as Core Series 2, covering the Core 5 210H through the Core 9 270H. The package carries 1,744 contacts in a 50 × 25 mm footprint and solders directly to the laptop mainboard. Intel launched the first processors on this package in December 2024 at a 45 W base power with turbo up to 115 W.

Overview
The package exists for one job: carrying hybrid Performance-cores and Efficient-cores with Iris Xe or UHD graphics into performance laptops that also need PCIe Gen5. Core counts span 8 cores with 12 threads on the Core 5 210H to 14 cores with 20 threads on the Core 7 250H and Core 9 270H. Cache follows the die size from 12 MB to 24 MB of Intel Smart Cache. Memory support stays flexible for the laptop market with DDR4, DDR5 and low-power variants side by side.
Because the processor solders to the board there is no socket retention, no aftermarket board choice and no processor upgrade. Laptop makers design cooling around the 45 W base with headroom for 115 W turbo bursts, and buyers choose the configuration once at order time. The smaller BGA 1264 package serves a different world in Atom embedded boards at far lower power.

Who BGA 1744 serves
BGA 1744 processors belong in performance laptops where sustained multi-thread work matters: development machines, engineering laptops and creator systems with discrete-grade cooling. The 45 W base with 115 W turbo headroom separates them from thin-and-light U-series designs that trade sustained clocks for battery life.
Within the package the choice runs from the 8-core Core 5 210H for mainstream performance through the 10-core Core 7 240H to the 14-core Core 7 250H and Core 9 270H for heavy multitasking. Graphics scale with the tier from 48 to 96 execution units, so buyers who play or create on integrated graphics should weigh the top SKUs.
Memory and PCIe
Memory support spans DDR4-3200 and DDR5 SODIMM modules plus soldered LPDDR4X-4267 and LPDDR5X variants, with top speeds depending on the SKU. The Core 7 and Core 9 processors reach DDR5-6400 and LPDDR5X-6400, while the Core 5 210H tops out at LPDDR5X-5200. Two channels carry up to 96 GB across the family, and ECC is not offered on these consumer mobile parts.
PCIe arrives as Gen5 from the CPU with Gen3 PCH lanes behind it, 28 lanes in total. Laptop designs typically wire 8 Gen5 lanes to graphics with Gen4 lanes to NVMe storage. Gen5 SSDs run at their rated speed where the board wires them, which matters for large project loads and scratch disks.
