What the Xeon 6325P is

The Intel Xeon 6325P is the threaded 4-core member of the Xeon 6 6300P Raptor Lake server stack on Socket LGA 1700. It runs 4 Performance-cores with Hyper-Threading for 8 threads at 3.5 GHz base with boost to 5.2 GHz, backed by 12 MB of cache and a 55 W TDP. Intel launched the 6300P range in the first quarter of 2025 at a 315 USD recommended price, built on Intel 7 for single-socket entry servers.

Four fast cores suit firewalls, DNS boxes, backup targets and single-app towers where high frequency matters more than core count. The 3.5 GHz base is the highest in the 4-core class, so single-service throughput stays strong, while bursts to 5.2 GHz clear interactive spikes. Hyper-Threading covers background updates beside the main service.

Against the unthreaded 4-core Intel Xeon 6315P below it, the 6325P adds threading and frequency at the same 55 W class. Against the 6-core Intel Xeon 6333P above it, the 6325P trades cores for clocks at a lower power envelope. ECC memory and 1S server firmware separate it from desktop Core parts. See Socket vs chipset: what decides whether a CPU works for why chipset series plus BIOS revision together decide board fit.

Socket and motherboard compatibility

The 6325P fits LGA 1700 in the FCLGA1700 package, the same socket as Alder Lake, Raptor Lake and Raptor Lake Refresh desktops. Server boards with workstation chipsets that list Xeon 6300P support take the 6325P, while desktop boards stay outside the validated list. Because board vendors qualify power classes individually, the 6325P must appear by name on the support list rather than being assumed from socket fit.

Memory is DDR5-4800 ECC in two channels up to 128 GB. Unlike desktop Raptor Lake boards, server LGA 1700 boards validate ECC operation, so business data stays protected. A move from any other socket is a full platform change with board, memory and heatsinks replaced together.

Memory, PCIe and cooling

Memory on this platform is DDR5-4800 ECC in two channels up to 128 GB. Two channels keep 8 threads supplied in firewall and terminal mixes with ease. Population order follows the board manual, and ECC should stay enabled for business data.

PCI Express connectivity is Gen 5 with x20 lanes from the CPU in a 1x16 plus 1x4 layout, plus 8 DMI lanes to the chipset. That lane budget feeds an NVMe boot drive plus a gigabit network card on a small server without strain. Lane splits follow the board block diagram.

Cooling uses standard LGA 1700 retention, and the 55 W class suits compact tower air coolers and 1U server heatsinks rated for that class. The junction limit of 100 degrees C suits ventilated racks. Firmware power limits can cap draw below the default where a silent branch office demands it, at some cost in sustained clocks.

Upgrade paths

On the same socket, the path up from the 6325P starts with the 6-core Intel Xeon 6333P for more cores on LGA 1700 server boards where the budget allows. Each move keeps board and memory where the power class allows, plus a BIOS that already supports the 6300P range.

The step down to the unthreaded Intel Xeon 6315P trims threading for the lowest 6300P price. A move to BGA 4368 Granite Rapids-D is a different soldered platform with many more cores for edge racks. That change replaces board, memory and cooling from scratch.

Frequently asked questions

What socket does the Intel Xeon 6325P use?

FCLGA1700 (LGA 1700), the same 1,700-contact socket as 12th to 14th Gen Core desktops. Server boards with W680 or R680E class chipsets that list the SKU take it.

How are the cores of the 6325P arranged?

Four Performance-cores with Hyper-Threading, giving 4 cores and 8 threads. Threading doubles the visible threads against the unthreaded Intel Xeon 6315P below it.

What memory does the 6325P need?

DDR5-4800 ECC in two channels, up to 128 GB. The board vendor qualifies exact DIMM types and speeds.

Does the 6325P work in desktop LGA 1700 boards?

Server LGA 1700 boards that list Xeon 6300P support. Desktop boards may boot some Raptor Lake parts, but ECC behavior and management features follow the server board vendor list.
