What the Core i3-7350K is
The Core i3-7350K is a two core, four thread unlocked desktop processor from Kaby Lake. It launched in January 2017 with a fixed 4.2 GHz at 60 W. Two cores with an open multiplier cover budget tuning builds where high dual core clocks matter more than thread count.
Four megabytes of Smart Cache support gaming with entry cards. The fixed 4.2 GHz was the fastest dual core stock clock of its year, and the unlocked multiplier allows higher clocks on Z270 boards with capable cooling. Hyper-Threading gives four threads for multitasking.
HD Graphics 630 from 350 MHz to 1150 MHz drives setup displays. Tuners pair it with a discrete card for play. The process is 14 nm.
Intel sold the 7350K as the tuning entry of Kaby Lake near Core i5-7400 pricing. Buyers chose between two tuned cores and four stock cores. No cooler ships in the box.
Socket and motherboard compatibility
The 7350K fits LGA 1151 revision 1 only. Z270 unlocks the multiplier for tuning, while B250 and H270 run it at stock 4.2 GHz. Revision 2 boards never support it.
The Socket vs chipset: what decides whether a CPU works guide explains board generations. Z series makers list the 7350K with memory guidance for DDR4-2400 and higher where boards allow it.
The locked Intel Core i3-7320 on the same socket is the lower cost 4.1 GHz alternative where tuning is not needed. The Core i5-7600K is the four core tuning step up.
Memory, PCIe and cooling
DDR4-2133/2400 is the official memory pace in two channels up to 64 GB. Z boards often run faster modules beyond spec for minimum frame times. Two matched modules keep dual channel bandwidth.
Sixteen PCIe 3.0 lanes feed a single graphics card for budget gaming towers. Tuners pair the chip with an entry to mid range card plus a SATA SSD. Integrated graphics cover second displays.
Sixty watts with tuning headroom needs a tower cooler, since no stock cooler ships. The 75 mm pattern shares coolers with LGA 1155, 1150 and LGA 1200.
Upgrade paths
On the same socket Core i5-7600K adds four tuned cores, while Core i7-7700K adds threads plus clocks. Both keep 100 and 200 series boards with a BIOS that lists the part.
Past revision 1 a new board is required. Tuners often keep cooler and graphics across the move.
