What the AmpereOne A192-32M is

The Ampere AmpereOne A192-32M is a 192-core server processor with a 3.2 GHz sustained frequency. It runs 192 single-thread Armv8.6+ custom cores with no turbo beyond the top bin, so 192 cores give 192 threads. Cache is 2 MB of L2 per core with 16 KB of L1 instruction and 64 KB of L1 data per core plus a 64 MB system level cache on a 5 nm compute chiplet. Power is rated at 346 W in a 7228-pin FCLGA package.

Custom Ampere cores with doubled L2 over Altra and mesh congestion management give the A192-32M the lead in VM density per socket, which is why the flagship heads single-socket cloud racks. Ampere launched the AmpereOne M line in May 2025. The chip supports SBSA 5, memory tagging and single-key memory encryption.

Flagship density with a 346 W envelope suits single-socket cloud servers with DDR5 memory. The 12-channel DDR5 path feeds 192 cores. That is why the A192-32M shipped in GIGABYTE R2A3 single-socket servers.

Socket and motherboard compatibility

The A192-32M fits LGA 7228 flagship servers with AmpereOne M support. It needs a 7228-land board with Ampere firmware and a BIOS that lists the A192-32M. The Socket vs chipset: what decides whether a CPU works guide covers pairing rules.

Flagship single-socket servers such as the GIGABYTE R2A3-T40 are the natural match. Boards listing the A192-32M accept the chip with a 346 W heatsink.

Memory, PCIe and cooling

Memory is twelve channels of DDR5 ECC, up to 3 TB per socket. PCIe Gen5 with 96 lanes per socket feeds NVMe storage and network cards. Cooling uses 1U and 2U server heatsinks rated for 346 W with front-to-back airflow.

Upgrade paths

On the same socket, lower AmpereOne M bins trade clocks for power when support lists name them. An Altra Max M128-30 such as Ampere Altra Max M128-30 is the previous-generation flagship on LGA 4926 with DDR4 memory.

AmpereOne MX with 256 cores is announced but unreleased. The LGA 7228 page lists the AmpereOne M range for planning.
