What the A6-1450 is

The A6-1450 is the fastest Temash Jaguar APU for tablets on Socket FT3. AMD set four Jaguar cores at 1.0 GHz base with turbo to 1.4 GHz and 2 MB of shared L2 cache. Power is 8 W on 28 nm from May 2013. Radeon HD 8250 graphics at 400 MHz lead tablet graphics of the line. It suits premium slates where bursts matter.

Turbo to 1.4 GHz lifts single thread touch response while base holds power in sealed bodies. Four threads cover browsing beside media and sync. Larger cache over dual parts trims reloads. The soldered package locks screen and storage at purchase. Panel quality and flash speed shape feel more than headline clocks.

Single channel DDR3L feeds cores and graphics. The 8 W envelope fits thin fans in larger slates. The A6-1450 covers flagship tablets where turbo quad threads at 8 W are wanted.

Socket and motherboard compatibility

The A6-1450 solders to Socket FT3 as BGA769. No socket exists and no later change is possible. The chip cannot be replaced. Memory solders or slots per slate model. Maker specs set display ceilings.

The LGA, PGA and BGA: CPU package types explained guide covers soldered limits. Software and external storage are the only later changes. A faster slate needs a new board.

FT1 Bobcat never accepts Jaguar parts. Low power generations never interchange packages.

Memory, PCIe and cooling

DDR3L-1066 class memory in a single channel suits tablets. Board sizes cover slate images. Soldered memory locks at order. Bandwidth fits HD panels and touch layers.

PCIe 2.0 with up to 8 lanes from the SoC links radios and storage. Slate wiring follows the model plan. Maker pages list exact paths.

Cooling is a thin active path for 8 W with pattern Not applicable (soldered). No retail cooler exists. Turbo bursts raise heat briefly, so keep backs ventilated.

Upgrade paths

Within the soldered line the AMD A4-1350 with four fixed threads suits cheaper slates on similar boards. For notebooks the Kabini AMD A6-5200 with four faster threads needs a notebook chassis on the same FT3 package class. Both need new boards.

A modern slate means a new platform. The A6-1450 holds premium tablets where turbo quads at 8 W are the ceiling.
